Job Overview
The Technical Specialist I, Flooring is an auditing role within the Environmental Certification Services (ECS) division that critically assesses building products against sustainability standards to achieve industry-recognized certifications like FloorScore, ASSURE, GreenSquared, NSF 332 – Sustainability for Resilient Flooring, NSF 140 – Sustainability for Carpet, and other product performance standards. Program certifications allow companies to leverage their certified products in the market and confirm compliance with green building criteria such as USGBC - LEED, CHPS, and various Government Purchasing Specifications.

This position actively supports the Program Manager in completing client billable work, ongoing program development, ensuring conformance with corporate and program quality control requirements, and other tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management

• Coordinate and conduct both onsite (if required) and desk audits for domestic and international clients as assigned
• Complete audits by adhering to the agreed timeline, reporting deliverables, and professional requirements
• Support the documentation, communication, and closure of audit findings
• Support the development of verification report and verification statement
• Communicate in a timely and professional manner with internal staff and external clients

Auditing and Technical Expertise

• Complete clear technical audit reports following program requirements, with increasing complexity (expansive scope, complex industry, standard), including applicable calculations, interpretation of testing results, and research
• Conduct data analysis and modeling
• Interpret results of analysis and prepare written reports

Quality and Program Development

• Deliver verification services in accordance with SCS Corporate and Program Quality requirements, in addition to participation in periodic internal and external accreditation audits
• Support the SCS quality management system through maintenance of competency records including training log, completed calibration activities, and up to date knowledge of SCS program and external scheme requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative, scientific, or environmental field and
• 2+ years of professional experience or working knowledge of manufacturing processes, third-party certification, or supply chain management
• Ability to interpret standard requirements
• Excellent attention to detail, technical writing, observation, and data management skills
• Demonstrated abilities in analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong ability in client management and customer service
• Highly proficient at prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines
• Thrives in a deadline-driven environment by completing complex tasks and deliverables on time
• Ability to work productively both independently and as part of a team
• Fluency in English with professional experience in both verbal and written communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced level in Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree or higher in Chemistry or an equivalent area of specialty
• Lead Auditor/Practitioner status in ISO 9001 or ISO 14001
• Professional experience in any of the following industries: Building Materials, Furniture, or Packaging
• Professional experience as an auditor in a relevant field
• Experience or working knowledge of green building rating systems (e.g. LEED AP)
• Fluency in Mandarin, Hindi, or another relevant language, both written and verbal

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$51,000 - $65,000
