Science-Based Solutions and Technologies for Your Sustainability Goals

Tailored Solutions for Complex Sustainability Analyses

SCS' Advanced Technical Services are for organizations with large corporate level sustainability initiatives, who need the technical expertise to research and help achieve complex projects and analyses. We help companies compare products for environmental impacts, make informed decisions about supply chains, conduct stakeholder engagement, and deploy technology to meet their verification needs.

Do you have specific sustainability goals that you’re trying to meet, but don’t know where to start or how to gather and analyze the data? SCS helps to identify solutions, determine a process for how to get there, and perform the complex analyses to achieve intended results. We work with companies that are needing to know what happens at the source of where their supply chain materials come from or needing other specific gaps of information filled.

We help companies get to the bottom of their questions, creating a clearer picture for steps forward. SCS has highly specialized Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools such as geographic information systems (GIS) and LCA calculators, and we can help your team develop the essential tools and gather resources for decision making. We develop and utilize metrics that are environmentally relevant, ensuring results are meaningful.

Why Choose SCS?

We have completed LCA studies in most major industries including textiles, food and agriculture, forestry products and paper, metals, building materials, furniture, biofuels, glass, appliances, plastics and many more. SCS is a pioneer in addressing impacts not captured via conventional LCA.

SCS has lengthy experience in convening stakeholder groups and has a long history of launching schemes such as FSC, MSC, ASC due to our long-standing trust with NGOs and the ability to bridge the gap successfully with industry, academia, trade, etc.

  1. Scoping
SCS works with the organization to identify project needs and outline the goals to be achieved. SCS evaluates the objective and prepares a plan and proposal, including the process, costs, final deliverables and a timeline. The applicant then authorizes a work order and the process begins.
  2. Data Collection and Analysis
SCS helps you assemble your data and documentation. Our technical team reviews the documentation relevant to the proposed work, such as manufacturing data, processes, chain of custody procedures and supplier data, material input documentation, etc. SCS conducts the work and the appropriate analyses.
  3. Prepare and Deliver Findings
The SCS team delivers the findings via a draft of the agreed-upon deliverable (such as a report, data sets, LCA calculation tools, etc.) The client reviews the data, relevant tools, report information, and/or conclusions drawn, and provides any feedback for revisions before the deliverable is finalized.
  4. Final Deliverable Issued
Once any necessary corrections or changes are made, the final deliverable is issued to the client. Any next steps as discussed can be taken, such as a standard being developed, implementation of changes, etc.
